Pool Day

It's been such a mild summer that there haven't been too many days that we could swim and not freeze! Last week it finally started to get warm! Here are some pics of the kids swimming in our little above ground pool...

I didn't really want to put the pool up this year because TessaLee is into everything! I just knew she would drown! I make sure the ladder is out of the pool and around the corner, I'm not taking any chances. :) It's nice for the kids, they enjoy being able to swim often and dad is glad not to have to pay for it...

The Crow

So just the other day the kids drug home a crow! Yep that's right, you read correctly...a crow. It was just a baby (although huge) and they said it couldn't fly and was meaner than heck. They found this crow behind one of the barns near our house. They all came back home to get gloves because it was trying to bite them. :) Yet they persevered... Anyhow Bill Daisy and Josh all worked together to catch the little bugger and brought it home. We put it in this little cage with some veggies (they eat raw hamburger, we found this out later...) and a board on top for shade. I know you all think the poor little crow died while under our supervision but you will be happy to know that some how the cage tipped over and he was able to escape into the horse field. Jeff said the 2 roosters were trying to get him but he was way tougher than them. We really don't know what happened to him after that. Hopefully he learned to fly otherwise it probably was a short night for him...

Three Ponds at Snow Canyon Trail Ride

Like a month ago (or something...everything seems to run together these days!) we went down to Snow Canyon State Park and rode the Three Ponds trail down by the sand dunes. It was sooo very busy there that day it was a little crazy getting the horses unloaded and saddled with all the little kids running around.

Mom, Max and Bucky came with us too! When we got there 2 of my 3 welds on my door had broken off. It was a trick to open and then had to strap it to hold it closed to get it home. What an adventure!!

Josh and Daisy rode their own horses and Bill rode with me in the same saddle. I forgot to ask my mom to bring the "buddy saddle." Daisy rode Sonora and Josh rode Banker. The craziest thing is that I rode the stud (who is not a stud horse anymore but we can't get away from calling him that...) and Bill rode with me. This was his FIRST time going anywhere. For the last 9 years he's been in a pen separate from everyone else. We gelded him in February, the horse market is crap right now and no one wants to breed their mares when they can go to the auction and buy a papered baby for $25 and I don't blame them. I thought it might be nice to be able to use "the stud" as a ridin horse. He put in his time as a stud maybe he would like to be a normal horse for a while... ANYHOO... he did GREAT! We all had a ton of fun and got hike around at the ponds.. I don't know why I didn't take pics of actually riding, go figure!
